I haven't seen anyone report this on a fresh install. It is always after an upgrade, which normally replaces both parts of grub on the disk. The symbol "grub_term_highlight_color" was removed from the new version of grub intentionally. When only one part of grub is upgraded, the other, older part generates this error because it is still looking for it and can't find it, because the part that used to contain it was upgraded. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQEcBAEBCgAGBQJUUDdaAAoJEI5FoCIzSKrwKZkH/32nWWq987LWIdmKjrQOTKZq kR1yOHsERmQNXV/Kpiiidb/LP+Efor+qi3NM3ilZp3K69ukJzApdy7EhjPI5hURe w/UJHpwMxUfSFV5eIBhLNum+bIunpbRaIrhD1zGCimgz6aZGyz0dDh6fDYfpO+LT J0pKo0D8wPzNa4ZDL93fvq4MuzDpV3GXEU7yihgsmiyko2s6ui83nMIoDbpIAr6o 6XZ/bCdqKBIHBAGJUw24Ea2LQppvq8+HIzL00SnhK8r0XcvzAa/16EgIP9WjB27N 3UzuNdL+tJJrbPhHSvwZLe11ZaDXkiGP7HV3SOgDMSPP9GRo6CbqiS1h7zaVIho= =zpuD -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1289977 Title: Ubuntu 14.04 Update breaks grub, resulting in "error: symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1289977/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
