I've had that problem since my first install of Trusty continuing on to Utopic.
I'd like to add an observation I made while testing different kernels. This error _does not_ occur when you select the kernel to boot. Ex: - Boot the computer - At the Grub menu, stop the count down and select the Advanced Options.... - Select the kernel - No error. FWIW. Maybe it's a hint. Hope that helps.
