We decided to drop alternates for HWE (unless someone could find the time to make them work, which no one did), and didn't publish any for 14.04.2, for reasons just like this one.
It was probably a mistake on my part to spin alternates for 14.04.3 at all, but we should probably just assume they're broken and remove them, like we did for .2, IMO.
