"Official releases will never be updated except for security or serious usability issues. This is just the way Ubuntu and Debian work."
I object. This is not they they SHOULD work. It punches holes into the security if users are forced to add myriads of custom ppas to Synaptic just to have current releases. Remember that a user has no control over WHAT software gets updated by a ppa, you cannot limit their scope. Synaptic tells users "there is an update", but NOT which ppa claimed this. If a ppa is ill maintained or gets hacked, it could spread doctored kernels containing malware to people unaware of the danger. software should only be updated trough central distribution official software delivery, otherwise Linux is no longer safer than Windows. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1571023 Title: Packaged version is out of date To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keepass2/+bug/1571023/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
