  This issue doesn't affect every distribution - for example, on Fedora 27

  First make a svg file with text in it for example in inkscape. Then try to 
open this file with gpicview I was using pcmanfm by double clicking on it.
  
  Instead as in the picture it shows the square boxes with what is
  supposed to be text in the black and green boxes as just squares. when
  opening it and on the thumbnail in pcmanfm.
