Following up on your comment twdkeule, is there an option to disable the
dialog popup in Ubuntu 17.10? I was going to try vincenzoml's hack fix,
but don't have any experience rebuilding packages and was pretty lost on
how to even find/edit the unity-settings-daemon file.

I am considering upgrading solely for this reason. My headphone jack is
broken, and keeps wrongly sensing unplugging/plugging in headphones to
the point where the constant popup interferes heavily with usability.
