Reinstalling ubuntu-desktop didn't change anything. So I tried to find other posts with the same problem. It seems my English was not good enough to use the best keywords in the previous searches. And that pointed me to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1760201 So I tried setting WaylandEnable=false and it seems to work I do not understand what that will do and the it feels more like a workaround than a fix, but that's god enough for me.
