I am experiencing a similar problem using Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon
using OpenOffice 2.3.  I will try to provide an exact problem
replication, as follows:

1.  Open a NEW Word Processor document
2.  Note that rior to typing anything, CTRL-B/I/U properly toggle their 
respective styles properly
3.  Begin with a CTRL-B to turn ON Bold font style and type "This should be 
bold;  "
4.  Toggle Bold using CTRL-B (to turn it OFF) and continue, repeating "This 
should be normal.  "
5.  Toggle Bold again with CTRL-B (to turn it ON again) and continue typing -- 
the bold feature fails to function.

Please note that two other programs have displayed problems after
upgrading to Gutsy (7.10), making it difficult to ascertain the exact
