The following can be used as a workaround for this problem.
Note that this problem affects ALL of the font-style buttons: BOLD, ITALICS, 
UNDERLINE

In the following workaround the pressing of [CTRL+B/I/U] is indicated by
the brackets:

[CTRL+B] bold is on [CTRL+B] bold is off [CTRL+B] bold fails to turn on.
Highlight the offending word or phase and press [CTRL+B] again.  This
will cause the effect to work and 'resets' the problem, which will
repeat the next time bold is turned off.  This workaround is
inconvenient but it does work.  It will function for all of the font
buttons.

By the way, I received an update saying the bug was fixed.  When can we
access the fix?
