After purging snap completely, I just tried to install just gnome-
calculator with snap.

$ sudo aptitude install snapd
(some output)

$ snap install gnome-calculator
2019-01-15T09:32:40-05:00 INFO Waiting for restart...
Automatically connect eligible plugs and slots of snap "gnome-calculator"

$ sudo du -sh /snap
489M    /snap/

If you run the calculator, then this happens:

$ sudo du -sh  /snap/
1.1G    /snap/

Is this really lighter than installing it with apt-get?

$ apt-cache --no-all-versions show gnome-calculator | grep '^Size: '
Size: 253432

Unless I am very much mistaken, those are bytes.
