Same problem with a Latitude d830, with ipw3945-based wireless. When booting with hardware switch "on" network interface is recognized, and if I kill the wireless Nm-applet displays the "no signal" icon. After I reset the switch it doesn't do anything. I have also some random disconnection and a reboot is required to make the interface work again. Please increase bug priority, this problem should have been a showstopper.
