Public bug reported: Binary package hint: k3b
Scenario: I have k3b open, as I wish to burn a DVD. I put a DVDR in the drive. The KNotify dialog pops up (what do you want to do with this medium?) but for some reason doesn't get focus. I click burn in k3b. Somehow the two processes compete / get almost deadlocked, and my computer almost melts down. In syslog, there are lots of messages like: Nov 13 16:54:10 mediabox kernel: [ 990.964000] ide: failed opcode was: unknown Nov 13 16:54:10 mediabox kernel: [ 990.964000] hdc: drive not ready for command Nov 13 16:54:15 mediabox kernel: [ 996.168000] hdc: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } I can easily reproduce this. If I cancel the knotify dialog before clicking "burn" in k3b, there are no problems. ** Affects: k3b (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- k3b and knotify compete for resources https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162542 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
