Public bug reported:

after some hours of notebook power on, the:
/usr/lib/mate-applets/battstat-applet
use 1 GB of virtual memory, and already 300 MB of RAM.

If I leave the notebook on for some days, it use many GB of RAM in total.
Why the applets do not save battery statistics to a file?
