Oh my goodness, I have the same specs and "Fn+F7" worked for me. I think this turned on instead of off by default (on the live CD and post Install. This bug has to be checked by anyone who has a Acer Aspire 5002wlmi and is having problem with the touchpad in Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. Thanks Peter!
