Hi dbensimon, It is not exactly what I said. I don't know if it was turned off by default (it's an Acer Aspire 5102wlmi, not an 5002). What I know is that I had "played" with those buttons on the laptop (I've got no laptop, it's not mine), without knowing what is was for, and I think I have disabled it myself.
