Well the "[drm:intel_dsi_vbt_gpio_init [i915]] *ERROR* Failed to own gpio for panel control" error is gone.
I just noticed you describe the problem as "blank screen with a cursor" , I should have noticed this before. I assume with a cursor you mean a mouse cursor (and not a Linux text console cursor.
