@rhardy good that it worked all out for you. However, just for your information: upgrade to 20.04 wasn't necessary to run a newer kernel. I've been running a 5.4 kernel for quote some time on 19.10 using the mainline utitlity from http://ppa.launchpad.net/cappelikan/ppa/ubuntu which works perfectly.
