The fact that you were able to apply the patch and compile makes me
think that a checkout of v5.8 would not make a difference.

Can you try this patch instead? (See attached)

Delete /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf because you don't need it anymore.
This new patch instructs the driver, snd_hda_intel, to apply the quirk
when it sees your machine, which it identifies by observing your
subsystem id (0x144dc18a).

I did *not* submit this new patch for inclusion in the kernel. I made it
just for you to try. If it works for you then I can add a signed-off-by
line and submit it.
