I got this error message while following the instructions stated online
on the Boinc website.

When using the Debian/Ubuntu package, the processus is different : boinc should 
be started like another daemon :
sudo /etc/init.d/boinc-client start
if it isn't start already (the rpc binding error probably appear because the 
daemon has already taken the rpc socket)

Then, all config files are in /var/lib/boinc-client, including the
certificates I was stating that were missing in my previous message.  So
all is fine. Just some confusion with the online informations.

Using the Boinc-Manager package is also a good idea to register to some
projects.
