Thank you for your message. Your hint about the *esp* flag was all that was needed. There is still an issue: the diagnostic "A partition ..." is worse than useless and should be changed. As an ex-compiler writer, I can only stress that *all* diagnostics *must* be accurate and not misleading! If the partition is the first partition, is of an appropriate size and the mount point is //boot/efi /then the Configurator should quietly set the flags, perhaps with a warning message, and get on with it. This process should be smooth and friendly and *not* p*ss off the user before he/she has had a chance to use what is a nice and friendly system.
Your comments about invoking "apport-collect" are hardly relevant when the issue is with the fourth screen of a system install. Is apport accessible at that time. Secondly, having written to the disc, it is no longer "virgin" and the issue is not repeatable. I trust that you find this experience useful.
