I removed a bunch of stuff I did not really need, game servers, xorg- xserver drivers for hardware I did not have, kvm-qemu stuff that I have not used on this machine since last July, tor, and after getting rid of a bunch of cruft, it does reboot properly so now I have to figure out which application breaks it.
