Today I added focal repos to the same machine I used in my bug report. I did a quick and dirty upgrade of sssd from the focal repos. With the same settings I shared above, the ticket refreshes every ~30 minutes without any user interaction. With sss_debuglevel set to 100, I can see the following in the krb5_child.log:
