I have tried some other configuration and added those to the overviews:

DT = DeskTop and LT = LapTop.

a) DT -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> virt-
manger/qemu -> Ubuntu14.04

b0) LT -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 Mate ->
virt-manger/qemu -> Ubuntu14.04
b1) DT -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 Mate ->
virt-manger/qemu -> Ubuntu14.04
b2) DT -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 Mate -> GNOME-BOXES
-> Ubuntu14.04
b3) DT -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 Mate ->
virt-manger/qemu -> Peppermint 10

c1) DT -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 Budgie ->
GNOME-BOXES -> Ubuntu14.04
c2) DT -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 Budgie ->
virt-manger/qemu -> Ubuntu14.04

d1) DT -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 -> virtualbox ->
Ubuntu14.04
d2) DT -> Ubuntu 21.10 -> Virtualbox 6.1.30 -> Ubuntu 22.04 -> virt-manger/qemu
-> Ubuntu14.04

Only b0 and b1 are very slow, all other configurations work fine. The
newest configurations are b0; b2; b3; c2 and d2.

b0)
I backup my VMs weekly to my laptop and despite the only 8GB of memory, I tried
the b1 configuration on my Sandy-Bridge laptop. The result was worse than on
the Ryzen, because my laptop CPU (i5-2520M) is 2 to 3 times slower. Without any
inputs to the DT the CPU load in idle is 80% caused mainly by compiz and it
takes 1 minute to start the terminal. I have addedd that as b0.

b3)
I also have Peppermint 10 as qcow2 file,so I tried Peppermint.
I have added that configuration as b3 and that configuration b3 was fine, I
would even call it responsive :)

Summary: I only have a problem with the combination Ubuntu Mate 22.04
and Ubuntu 14.04, all other combinations are fine. Maybe the animations
in Ubuntu Mate 22.04 and Ubuntu 14.04 do bite each other.

I'm downloading the latest Ubuntu Mate 22.04 ISO and I will reinstall
configuration b1 from scratch tomorrow, to eliminate any installation
problems.
