I'm using Fish and affected by this issue as well. I just wanted to comment on:
"It appears that snapd.fish relies on fish_add_path which is not available until fish 3.3, while Ubuntu 21.10 provides fish 3.1.2." I'm using the Fish PPA and am running Fish v3.3.1 right now. So I don't think having an older version of Fish is the issue.
