I want to install Ubuntu in Japanese for my in-laws, so I messed around with putting SCIM support on my English laptop to get a feel for it. This HP laptop has Hardy Alpha 2 loaded on it, and I used this guide to install SCIM support for Japanese: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SCIM#fndef- adac221a6fc0e5ff7b3fc2457120b79733a8936b-1 It works amazingly well in terminal, note/word pad, and even the terminal, but OpenOffice programs won't even start. Obviously, there's a global settings compatibility problem. If I install their entire system in Japanese, then I shouldn't have this problem. However, I'd like to get it working on my Eng_US setup first. Is this being worked on for final Hardy 8.04? Thanks!!!
