I think I have the same problem. I have an HP Photosmart R818 and when I connect it in USB Mass Storage mode nothing happens but a ton of errors in /var/log/messages. See attachment. After unplugging it I get an error on the camera that the memory card cannot be read. After I turn the camera off and on it's fine though. However when I connect the camera in PTP mode it works fine. I think this is a regression from Feisty as I believe it worked fine in Feisty under USB Mass Storage Mode.
