I successfully completed the test cases on Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.4 LTS using gnome-activity-journal 1.0.0-3ubuntu0.1.
However, I was unable to reproduce the original crash there with gnome- activity-journal 1.0.0-3build1. This is similar to what Sudip said in comment 2.
