Hi, thank you for preparing this patch! In order to fix the issue in the
LTS, we need to fix it in Questing -> Plucky -> Noble (in this order),
otherwise users upgrading from Noble could regress.

Also, we need to update the bug description according to the "Stable
Release Update" (SRU) template, providing a proper test case and other
details: https://documentation.ubuntu.com/sru/en/latest/reference/bug-
template/ – Can you help with that?

See here for generic SRU documentation:

Ideally, you would integrate your patch in the openvpn source packages (via
debian/patches/series) and add a corresponding entry in debian/changelog (for
Questing, Plucky & Noble), referencing this bug report. You can read up about
how to do this here:
-
https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-maintainers-handbook/blob/main/PackageFixing.md
-
https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-maintainers-handbook/blob/main/MergeProposal.md

But OTOH, we have the same upstream version 2.6.14 in all those versions
of Ubuntu, so it will likely apply cleanly to all of them and a sponsor
should be able to get it integrated easily.

Please let us know how far you want to drive this. I'm also subscribing
~ubuntu-sponsors.
