ubuntu 24.04, Synology NAS Much frustration when attempting to mount NAS using cifs (smb from file manager and NFS are both OK)
cifs mount returns Mount -> 'error(2): No such file or directory. So looked in dmesg (sample below...) [ 3448.140639] audit: type=1400 audit(1760437338.964:246): apparmor="DENIED" operation="mknod" class="file" profile="snap.firefox.firefox" name="/home/usernam/.local/share/fonts/.uuid.TMP-9fkBr6" pid=11249 comm=57656220436F6E74656E74 requested_mask="c" denied_mask="c" fsuid=1000 ouid=1000 [ 3702.558349] CIFS: Attempting to mount //192.168.178.51/volume1 [ 3703.184771] CIFS: VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -2 Of course I check the CIFS entries and spent hours looking at privileges, ownership, server setup, mount types etc etc, all the while knowing NFS and file manager both worked (why I persevere with cifs is another issue) But of course the issue is with snap.firefox... worse still it isn't even listed in flatseal???
