Well, this bug drives me crazy, not because it's hard to fix (it isn't or it
shouldn't), but because no kernel dev seems to be interested in fixing it.
I was able to fix it in my desktops, but not in my notebook, no matter what I
did. Installed openSUSE 10.3 on it and now the nb runs fine.
I'm generally disappointed with Gutsy as a whole, a lot of instability problems
in my notebook (the machine freezing from time to time, not being able to
wake-up and this absurdly stupid bug - let's call a lemon a lemon).
Telling me I'm free to choose to run another distro or even MS-Windows doesn't
count, as I already know that and I'm already using another distro in my
notebook, thank you, and telling me I can't complain cause I got it for free
doesn't count either, cause I spent (and still spend) countless hours coding
stuff present in almost every Linux distro (KDE), and this idiotic bug is in my
way.
What I'm doing here is making an wake-up call. I, as a F/OSS developer, am
pretty aware people will complain and even use a program other than ours if it
doesn't meet their needs, simple as that. People will give up.
Please be responsive to your users' needs, or, given so many options floating
around, you'll have no users anymore.
