easily reproducible with netplan.io 1.2-0ubuntu1
results_d=$(mktemp -d "/tmp/test.XXXX"); echo ${results_d} ; netplan
generate --root-dir ${results_d}
or you can just make a top level dir and run it
$ mkdir test_netplan
$ netplan generate --root-dir ./test_netplan
it does not create the directory structure underneath the directory.
running the same commands on netplan.io 1.1.2-8ubuntu1~24.04.1 on a
24.04 system work appropriately
