Public bug reported: Many r-* packages (r-bioc-*, r-cran-*, r-other-*) are no longer being built for armhf (not 64-bit) or s390x (not little-endian.
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2025/12/msg00106.html says that there will eventually be **hundreds** of packages. It looks like packages need source uploads to adjust Build-Depends to force them to only be built for the desired architectures, but that hasn't been done for many affected packages yet. The current list can be found at https://ubuntu-archive-team.ubuntu.com/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html and then searching for these: missing build on armhf: r-cran missing build on s390x: r-cran missing build on s390x: r-bioc missing build on armhf: r-other missing build on s390x: r-other (r-bioc and r-other packages aren't ready for removal yet. r-bioc-* armhf packages were already removed for oracular, so those removals will only be s390x packages). An Archive Admin can probably write a script to handle this. And it will need to be re-run periodically as the Debian packages are uploaded. Let's use this bug as a tracking bug. Please don't file individual bugs for affected packages or add targeted packages in the Launchpad UI since Launchpad doesn't handle large numbers of packages on a single bug well. (dh-r is Architecture: all so it doesn't need any removals itself, but I needed to pick a package to use for this tracking bug.) Other notes =========== The ultimate list might be everything in https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=r-pkg-team%40alioth-lists.debian.net&version=testing that shows more than 1 architecture in the buildd column. But we'll still need to wait for uploads. https://bugs.debian.org/1118697 . I don't think it's very relevant to Ubuntu at the moment since the promised new version of r-bioc- biocgenerics was not uploaded to Debian yet. - https://ftp-master.debian.org/removals.html - https://ftp-master.debian.org/removals.txt (This is a log of removals for the current year. I don't see any related removals for 2025.) ** Affects: dh-r (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: resolute ** Description changed: Many r-* packages (r-bioc-*, r-cran-*, r-other-*) are no longer being built for armhf (not 64-bit) or s390x (not little-endian. https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2025/12/msg00106.html says that there will eventually be **hundreds** of packages.
