Public bug reported: Tealdeer versions before 1.8 are broken as the URL to update the page cache is outdated. This has been initially fixed in version 1.8+. See https://github.com/tealdeer-rs/tealdeer/issues/459 for details about the error.
As this is a problem across many Linux distributions, I (upstream maintainer of tealdeer) released patch versions 1.5.1, 1.6.2, and 1.7.3 that fix this problem without any further changes. In particular, the dependencies and minimum required Rust compiler version are the same as the previous respective minor release. See https://github.com/tealdeer- rs/tealdeer/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md for the changelog. With the current versions available in Ubuntu Noble Numbat and Questing Quokka, the tealdeer program is unusable because one needs to initialize the cache with `tldr --update` first. As far as I can tell, the package is currently outdated in Debian too, but there is work to update it. See https://github.com/tealdeer- rs/tealdeer/issues/459 for a discussion about the status across other Linux distributions. ** Affects: rust-tealdeer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2141842 Title: `tldr --update` broken, needs patch update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rust-tealdeer/+bug/2141842/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
