Thanks to Mario at kernel.org, I found a patch that brings back suspend (though it can have adverse effects as well). I added this to the linux line in grub and updated grub: gpiolib_acpi.ignore_wake=AMDI0030:00@4 This allows suspend to work. I gather it prevents Nvidia from operations such as suspend or perhaps wake, but I never use the GPU for anything but light gaming and always turn it off before I suspend or hibernate.
