2) Extension version: Ubuntu Tiling Assistant, with GNOME Shell on Ubuntu 26.04
3) What I expected to happen:
Per the official Ubuntu Desktop Guide (Settings ▸ Multitasking ▸ "Enable or
disable window resizing at screen edges"), toggling Active Screen Edges off
should stop windows from resizing/snapping when dragged to a screen edge.
4) What happened instead:
Toggling Active Screen Edges off in Settings ▸ Multitasking has no effect while
Tiling Assistant is enabled. Verified that the toggle correctly sets
org.gnome.mutter edge-tiling to false (confirmed via gsettings get), yet
windows continue to snap/resize at screen edges. Snapping only stops after
manually disabling the Tiling Assistant extension (gnome-extensions disable
[email protected]). The extension appears to implement its own
edge-snapping that ignores the documented Active Screen Edges / edge-tiling
setting, leaving no working GUI way to disable edge-snapping.
Steps to reproduce:
Settings ▸ Multitasking ▸ General → turn off Active Screen Edges.
Confirm gsettings get org.gnome.mutter edge-tiling returns false.
Drag a window to a screen edge → it still snaps.
Run gnome-extensions disable [email protected] → snapping stops.
