Additional information: this is already fixed upstream.
Commit e0577b639d9bbf8d9c03f6024b0a463789827694 ("fix: Avoid locale-dependent
pattern matching", PR #76, 2026-07-29) addresses exactly this, and the fix is
more thorough than the one-line change I suggested above: it also wraps
gen_hash(), read_config_paths() and read_entry_path() in an LC_ALL=C context.
First upstream release containing the fix: v0.14.3
Version currently in Ubuntu 26.04: 0.14.0-1 (affected)
So this should just need a package update to >= 0.14.3, or a backport of that
commit.
