The system is AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 16GB, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Samsung SSD 980 PRO. Dual 27" 4K monitors (same model) on DP outputs (2x scaling.. set in various places duh). The OS is a freshly installed XUbuntu 26.04 A bog-standard install - no zfs, lvm, enryption, or anything. Stock Kernel, Mesa, and Xorg ddx amdgpu driver. Desktop is XFCE on Xorg obviously, default LightDM greeter. Even with OpenGL passed thru into the VM. All the unfortunate multitude of quirks that I (sadly) have to iron out on a new install could be the same or different with the real thing. This isn't sustainable nor evidently robust to have it fail in this weird way... Unless Ubuntu just bites the bullet and declares anything other then Gnome (and maybe KDE) on Wayland to be the you're on your own territory. Maybe it should?
