Tested with the closed (proprietary) kernel module: nvidia-driver-595 595.99.02-0ubuntu0.26.04.1 (DKMS, confirmed via /proc/driver/nvidia/version). The pointer still freezes after login if the mouse isn't moved during login. So this is not specific to the open kernel modules, and it points to mutter 50.1.
