** Description changed:
[ Impact ]
gnome-initial-setup 50.0-0ubuntu7.1 on Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS.
After do-release-upgrade from 24.04, the first login showed the Enable
Ubuntu Pro page. The page says "Upgrade this device to Ubuntu Pro. Free
for personal use."
The machine was already attached. pro status showed esm-apps, esm-infra,
and livepatch enabled, on an Ubuntu Pro free personal subscription.
/var/lib/ubuntu-advantage/status.json had "attached": true.
Expected: do not show this page when the machine is already attached, or
say that the machine is already on Ubuntu Pro.
[ Test Plan ]
1. Configure a machine with Ubuntu Pro
-> this can also be simulated by downloading the status.json attachment,
then running:
sudo /usr/libexec/ubuntu-advantage-desktop-daemon --replace
--status-path $PATH_TO_STATUS_JSON
2. Run the upgrade wizard:
/usr/libexec/gnome-initial-setup --upgrade-user
3. Navigate all the way through the wizard setup
4. Verify that you were never prompted to attach to Ubuntu Pro
[ Regression Test Plan ]
1. Configure a machine **without** Ubuntu Pro
2. Run the upgrade wizard:
/usr/libexec/gnome-initial-setup --upgrade-user
3. Navigate through the wizard setup
4. Verify that you reach a page prompting to attach to Ubuntu Pro
[ Where problems could go wrong ]
This patches a bug in a piece of logic that allows always show all pages of
the setup wizard for development purposes, which was incorrectly triggered for
the Ubuntu Pro page.
Problems could manifest as the GIS_SHOW_ALL_PAGES=1 environment variable not
taking effect. This is only used for development purposes.
+
+ [ Other info ]
+
+ Stonking is not going to receive a fix, because we do not show an Ubuntu
+ Pro page on non-LTS releases.
