I can confirm this issue on Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, kernel 7.0.0-42-generic, with a Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT (PCI ID 1002:7550, subsystem 1458:2424).
With linux-firmware-amd-graphics version 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu3.4 installed, my system became extremely slow, including boot and desktop responsiveness. Moving the DisplayPort cable to the motherboard's integrated graphics made the system usable again, but the dedicated GPU continued reporting errors. Relevant kernel log messages: amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: failed to load ucode DMCUB(0x3F) amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: psp gfx command LOAD_IP_FW(0x6) failed and response status is (0x11) amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: [drm] Wait for DMUB auto-load failed: 3 amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: [drm] *ERROR* dc_dmub_srv_log_diagnostic_data: DMCUB error - collecting diagnostic data amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: SMU: No response msg_reg: 2b resp_reg: 0 amdgpu 0000:03:00.0: late_init of IP block <smu> failed -62 I confirmed that /lib/firmware/amdgpu/dcn_4_0_1_dmcub.bin.zst was incorrectly symlinked to dcn_3_2_0_dmcub.bin.zst. Temporary workaround: I downgraded linux-firmware-amd-graphics to 0ubuntu3.3, restoring the correct 225553-byte firmware file. After rebooting, the severe slowdown disappeared and the RX 9070 XT became usable again. This appears to be the same firmware regression reported here. I am keeping version 0ubuntu3.3 installed until a corrected package is available. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2173041 Title: black screen after upgrading linux-firmware-amd-graphics to 0ubuntu3.4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware-amd-graphics/+bug/2173041/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
