Public bug reported:

Description:
On Ubuntu 24.04 (GNOME 46, Wayland session), when the Mozc input method is in
Hiragana (Japanese input) mode, keyboard shortcuts that use the Super key do
not work. Instead, the key is consumed by Mozc as plain text.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Log in to a GNOME Wayland session with "Japanese (Mozc)" as an input source.
2. Turn Japanese input ON (Hiragana mode) in a text field.
3. Press a Super+<letter> shortcut, e.g. Super+V (bound by the Clipboard
Indicator extension) or Super+L.

Expected:
The shortcut is handled by GNOME Shell (e.g. the clipboard history opens / the
screen locks).

Actual:
The letter is input as a full-width character (e.g. "v"). With Japanese input
OFF (direct input), the same shortcut works correctly.

Cause:
Mozc 2.28 does not recognize Super and other extra modifiers, so Super+V is
treated as plain "v". This was fixed upstream:
- google/mozc issue #853: https://github.com/google/mozc/issues/853
- google/mozc PR #1059 "Ignore Super and other modifier keys except for Alt"
(merged 2024-09-17)
  https://github.com/google/mozc/pull/1059
Change in src/unix/ibus/key_event_handler.cc: key events with IBUS_MOD3_MASK
| IBUS_MOD4_MASK | IBUS_MOD5_MASK are not handled by Mozc (return false).
- Included in upstream 2.30.5618 ("Linux: Enabled switching modes with
Super+Space in Wayland (#853, #1059)").

Fedora backported the same fix to mozc 2.29.5111.102-11 (Fedora 40/41/42):
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2257171

Request:
Please backport the upstream patch (PR #1059) to mozc 2.28.4715.102+dfsg in
noble (SRU).

Versions:
- Ubuntu 24.04.x LTS (noble)
- ibus-mozc / mozc-server 2.28.4715.102+dfsg-2.2build7
- ibus 1.5.29-2
- gnome-shell 46.0-0ubuntu6~24.04.17, libmutter-14-0 46.2-1ubuntu0.24.04.18

** Affects: mozc (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
