OK. Re-read your Feisty dmesg. The following line indicates a likely BIOS bug:
"ACPI: Looking for DSDT in initramfs... file /DSDT.aml not found, using machine 
DSDT"
This is not uncommon. In your situation it appears to be related to just 
gathering some CPU related information.

1/ You could check whether your hardware manufacturer has a BIOS upgrade 
available.
2/ You could try a later Ubuntu release (if this has become a known bios bug a 
workaround may be included in a later release).

There are other methods involving creating custom DSDT.aml but these are
not trivial. Search Google on the above error message and you will find

It appears your system is fully functional. In the absence of an
identifiable operational problem it's difficult to suggest a path
forward. It maybe best to do nothing unless a lack of functionality or
disfunction is discovered.
