I've tried a fix that was posted, in the launchpad, via another similar case, where I did this:
"Ok, just noticed that changing the cups server from localhost to 127.0.0.1 in the print configuration dialog of kprinter fixes the problem (system options => cups server => host). No more connection errors and the printers are visible." Link:https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/65665 ----------- AND NOW, my printer setup is hosed, and so is cups... in cups server, I just add a extra line "listen: 127.0.0.1:631" and know, I can't even open cups server configure, and open anything related to printer setup. HOSED. ( so is kprinter) hjangs.... NOW WHAT ? do I have to re-install the OS AGAIN ? please email if you got the magic pill, to this major bug in cups.
