As a workaround, the following instructions makes the internal 3g modem
loaded upon boot and available after suspends, hibernations etc:

1. Add "usbserial" to /etc/modules
2. Add "options usbserial vendor=0x413c product=0x8138" to
/etc/modprobe.d/options

You need to potentially adjust the product option according to the
number you have listed in the output of "lsusb".

Umtsmon (http://umtsmon.sourceforge.net) can then successfully use the
modem to easily establish an internet connection.

Note: There was no need to "activate" the modem in Windows.
