Here is the fix: 1. Download from http://intellinuxwireless.org/?n=Downloads the 7/7/2008 firmware
2. From the archive, extract the file iwlwifi-4965-2.ucode to /tmp 3. sudo cp /tmp/iwlwifi-4965-2.ucode /lib/firmware/2.6.24-20-generic 4.
