Interesting idea. I've uploaded a patched version of xserver-xorg-input-synaptics for Intrepid to my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~rainct/+archive/ppa), where it should be available in some hours. Note that I haven't tried it; if the package lets your computer explode don't blame me :).
