To start the discussion, I choose to play devil's advocate. IMHO, we
already have an active mailing list, which necessitates us to first
decide whether to have a forum or not. Too many sources of information
leads to confusion. Rather we can focus on improving the contents of
our Wiki, which we had been trying to for some(?)time. We may have a
FAQ section and move really good questions asked in this mailing list
over to the FAQ section. I very well know the counter argument is a
majority of the users are not used to mailing list but to forums. And
from my experience, very few forums seem to be alive as time proceeds
while most become inactive due to existence of too many similar forums

We also have a Ubuntu Forums at http://ubuntuforums.org/ which already
has a bigger pool of information, so we have to think twice before we
start our own forum.

As for as forum package is concerned, isn't there a Python based forum
package ? ;)

As from my memory, the rival ubuntu.co.in also had a forum but it
seems to be off the web when I browse for it. I hear the news that it
was hacked.

Just my 2 paisa, I leave the rest to the members to decide. :)

People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that
they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the
first secret of success.
