1) xkb

a) Right click on the panel --> Add to Panel --> Keyboard Indicator
b) Right click on the Keyboard Indicator --> Keyboard Preferences -->
Layouts --> Add --> Choose "India" for Layouts field --> "Kannada" in the
Variants field.

This should be Kannada Inscript, I suppose.
