There are deifnitely better photo editors like photoshop. Perhaps what canonical is trying is to move forward. I think energy should be used to port the best of software to ubuntu desktop in every catagory. Gimp is just used for photoediting which is just a type of software. I mean whole debate about evoulution, thunderbird or any other software is debatable. What I care about is just I can install ubuntu effortlessly and install those software which I like to use in every catagory.
