Are you sure the password is correct ** to to edit wireless connections by right clicking on the network icon In front of the name of the connection add Auto "foo name " ** There is no logic for this but recently i had the same issue after upgrading a 9.10 to a 10.04 - upgrading over the net. The OS lost the ability to connect to a specific network.
